Garifuna Cuisine Eatery
Flamingo Cultural Center includes an eatery which features Garifuna food that uses different flavors and ingredients of our ancestral culture. Between the seafood dishes and varieties of bananas and Caribbean vegetables, we rescued the culinary recipes of our ancestors and mixed them with new ideas from our local cook.
Marsie Harry, our cook, takes us to the roots of Garifuna cuisine by combining spices, vegetables, fruits, fish and seafood to offer to our visitors a variety of dishes and drinks with unique ingredients of the Bay of Islands.
Marsie Harry, together with our Director and Founder, Audrey Flores, have made a detailed study of home-made recipes from our grandparents, the aromatic herbs of the island, as well as fruits and vegetables endemic of the Honduran Caribbean coast to offer the visitor the flavors of our land.
