Children & Youth Education
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Flamingo Cultural Center implements English courses for children and young adults with the purpose of rescuing the use of the English language; which is the maternal language for many Bay Islanders. English is also the second language of the national education system of Honduras.
English classes are divided into three main modules: Basic, intermediate and advanced English. English for children and youth classes are taught by local teachers and professional foreign volunteers who reside on the island.
Flamingo Cultural Center has developed a methodological theoretical English class – practical program, which is backed by teachers of the English language in the United States.
The English classes have a minimum cost for Roatan residents with the purpose of covering the expenses of the material that is given to each student. English courses allow hundreds of children and adolescents each year to regain the daily use of their mother tongue and can in future be integrated into the local and national labor force with a competitive advantage in speaking and writing in English.
